American singer and songwriter Oliver Tree was aboard a helicopter with four other people when it was involved in a fatal midair collision with another aircraft. Both helicopters crashed over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Authorities have confirmed that all passengers aboard perished, although they have not yet been able to formally identify the bodies.

A U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base at about 11:20 a.m., according to an initial report. Emergency crews responded to the scene as a large fire sent thick black smoke above the airfield.
